             The traditional charity performance for children from large families, boarding schools, orphanages and rehabilitation social centres of Vologda and the Vologda Region was held in Puppet Theatre “Teremok” on the 1st of June. All the guests took part in the fascinating playing programme “Meet the Puppets”, watched the performance “Tale of The Golden Fish” (A. S. Pushkin; Director – A. Knyazkov, the Honoured Artist of Russia; Painter – A. Kardash; Composer – V. Antipin) and got wonderful presents. The show was organized together with The Department of Labour and Social Development of the Vologda Region.     

            May, 24th is Day of the Slavonic Written Language and Culture when we remember St. Cyrill and Methodius who created the Russian alphabet also called “The Cyrillic alphabet”. This year within the Puppet Festival we’ve organized the educational interactive theatrical class “Meeting Letter-Eater (Bukvoezhka)” where children and their parents got acquainted with the history of the Slavonic Written Language and even did some unusual letter-exercises!

              On May, 8th we arranged the Holiday for “those who like sweets”. The winners of Children’s Creative Work Competition “My Favourite Teremok” were invited there. The children met some charming characters such as Dunyasha, Manyasha and Slastyona (The Sweet Tooth) and saw  “Tale of The Golden Fish” (A. S. Pushkin; Director – A. Knyazkov,  the Honoured Artist of Russia; Painter – A. Kardash; Composer – V. Antipin). All the winners got different awards and prizes. Besides, the children got sweet presents from the Vologda Confectionery Factory, the regular partner of the Puppet Festival.

              On the 28-29th of April, 2010, The Third Children’s Amateur Puppet Theatres’ Festival “The Puppet Land” was held in which children’s theatrical groups from Vologda, Cherepovets, Arkhangelsk, Severodvinsk, the settlement of Nikolskoye (The Kostroma Region), Sosnovyi Bor (The Leningradskaya Region) participated.     The programme of the Festival was saturated and interesting: puppet shows of different kinds with puppets of different systems from glove and marionettes to masks were represented there. All in all there were 8 main categories. Then a round-table discussion for the leaders of children’s groups was organized where adults got an opportunity to talk and share their experience. There also was a theatrical discotheque with great cheer leaders for the participants of the Festival as well as an excursion to the Vologda Kremlin and round the ancient city.

               The next Festival “The Puppet Land” will take place in 2012 and will be devoted to the theme “My Dear Motherland”. You can apply from September, 1st, 2011 till March, 31st, 2012.

             According to the programme of exchanging tours Vologda Regional Puppet theatre “Teremok” visited the city of Arkhangelsk in April. Three performances were given: a vaudeville-comedy for adults called “Hanuma” (A.Tsagareli), a tale about a naughty bear-cub “Mishuk” (A.Knyazkov, K. Cherkasskaya; based on V. Belov’s book) and “Teremok” (S. Marshak). A week later Puppet Theatre “Teremok” welcomed the Arkhangelsk Regional Puppet theatre in Vologda. The guests also brought three shows: for adults “Puppet Show-booth”, “Don Juan in Venice” (D. Lohov, S. Loginova), for children – the buffo-story “Bear-cub Rim-tim-ti” (Y. Vilkovskii) and an interactive game based on the fairy-tale “Hare, Fox and Cockerel” (N. Shuvalov).

              On the 16 – 21 March, 2010 Vologda Regional Puppet theatre “Teremok” took part in the VIII International Puppet Theatres’ Festival “Ant-hill” (“Muraveinik”) (The city of Ivanovo). This Festival is held every two years. It is one of the most interesting Puppet Theatres’ festivals in Russia. “Ant-hill” gives the participants and guests a unique opportunity to see the best Puppet Shows not only from Russia but also from foreign countries. The puppeteers from Vologda showed “Mishuk or Tale of The Naughty Bear-cub”, based on V. Belov’s book, to the audience and colleagues in Ivanovo. (Playwrights - A. Knyazkov,  the Honoured Artist of Russia and Kira Cherkasskaya;  Director – Andrei Knyazkov, Painter – Aleksandr Alekseev, the Honoured Art Worker of Republic Hakasia; Composer – Vladimir Antipin). The performance was a great success. Taking part in this Festival has already become a good tradition for Vologda Regional Puppet theatre “Teremok”.

           On the 22nd of March, 2010 Vologda Regional Puppet theatre “Teremok” participated in the International Festival of Puppet Shows “Moscow Holidays” with the mono-performance “Dyuimovochka” (“Thumbelina”) based on the tale of H.-Ch. Andersen (Director – Igor Ignatiev, the Honoured Art Worker of Russia; Painter – Anna Ignatieva, the Honoured Art Worker of Russia; Composer – Mikhail Bebrish). The performer was Elena Tadlova, the Honoured Artist of Russia.

       The theatrical Prize “The Working Horse” was given on the 21st of March, the International Day of Puppeteers, on the stage of Vologda Regional Puppet theatre “Teremok”. The actor who has played the biggest number of performances during the year gets this prize. Valentin Ovsyannikov, Laureate of the Professional Theatrical Prize named after A. V. Badaev, was the winner. He took part in 155 shows in 2009.

            Some actors of Vologda Regional Puppet theatre “Teremok” were awarded with different prizes on the 27th of March, the International Day of Theatre. The ceremony took place in the Drama Theatre.  Tatyana Suhanova, the actress of “Teremok”, Laureate of the Theatrical Prize named after K. P. Osipova, became the prize-winner for “Many years of brilliant and devoted work for children”.

        Marina Mizina, Laureate of the Professional Theatrical Prize “The Brilliant Hand”, got the prize for the role of Hanuma in the play of A. Tsagareli as “the best role of the year”. This prize is established by the Puppet Theatre.

          Pinocchio from the show “Pinocchio” (N. Shuvalov), played by Natalia Burlova, became the prize-winner as “Children’s Favourite”. Little children usually choose the winner when they vote for their favourite fairy-tale character after each performance.

          There was a first-night show “Tale of The Golden Fish” (A. S. Pushkin; Director – A. Knyazkov, the Honoured Artist of Russia; Painter – A. Kardash; Composer – V. Antipin) on the 7th of March, 2010 in Vologda Regional Puppet theatre “Teremok”.

            Vologda Regional Puppet theatre “Teremok” took part in the XVII All-Russian Theatrical Festival named after A. S. Pushkin which was organized from the10th till the 15th of February, 2010 in the city of Pskov. The Puppet Show was included in the programme of the Festival for the first time in its 16-year history. The puppeteers from Vologda were invited with the performance “Tale of Tsar Saltan” (A. S. Pushkin; Director – Igor Ignatiev, the Honoured Art Worker of Russia; Painter – Anna Ignatieva, the Honoured Art Worker of Russia; Composer – Dmitrii Gusev; Choreographer – Natalia Petrova-Rudaya). This performance has already become the Prize Winner of different International Festivals.

On March, 7 there was a premier for adult spectators in the Vologda Regional Puppet theatre "Teremok". "CONCERTO GROSSO" is one of the biggest projects of the puppet theatre.

The performance's author and producer is Alexander Borok, Honoured Artist of Russia. He defines the play's style as "a merry holiday for adults with puppets". Almost all the actors' group is engaged in the performance. Our actors play new unexpected roles. Besides numerous rehearsals they studied to dance step (ballet master - Valery Kuznetsov) and sing (vocal teacher - Tatyana Selyanina).


"ÑONCERTO GROSSO" translated from Italian means "A big concert".
Various mysterious events happen on the stage: Charlie Chaplin meet Faust, little swam dance step, Motsart, Betkhoven and Chaikovsky play chansons, and merry Russian matreshka dolls greet spectators with an unusual dance. And these are not all surprises!

More than 80 puppets including trick ones were created for the performance. A whole team of talented artists worked on their creation. The performance's design was made by Valery Bakharev (Yekaterinberg), the puppets' sculptors - Maria Ivanova (St. Petersburg, marionettes were created by a legend of puppet theatres - Nikolay Borovkov, Honoured Worker of Art (St. Petersburg).

The concert for adults in the puppet theatre is very rare and complicated but required by everyone. The premier of the Vologda puppetees is a great event in the theatrical life and not only for our region: the Vologda theatre with "ÑONCERTO GROSSO" is invited to perform in the Moscow International Music House this autumn.

     In October the Vologda Regional Puppet Theatre “Teremok” participated in the International festival of puppet theatres “Interlyalka” in Uzhgorod (Ukraine). The Puppet theatres of Russia, Belorussia, Bulgaria, Poland, Rumania, Serbia, Slovakia, China, Ukraine, and Montenegro took part in the festival. The Vologda puppeteers represented the performance “The Fairytale about Tsar Saltan” staged by Igor Ignatiev, Honoured Art Worker of Russia. The performance was very successful. The jury and spectators of the festival highly appreciated our actors’ professionalism and talents. The Vologda Regional Puppet Theatre “Teremok” became the winner in nomination “Actor group”.  

        In September the Vologda Regional Puppet Theatre “Teremok” took part in the International festival of puppet theatres “Petrushka the Great” in Yekaterinburg. Twenty-three theatres from six countries -  Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Japan- came to the festival. Our theatre showed the performance “The Fairytale about Tsar Saltan” by A. Pushkin (producer – I. Ignatiev, Honoured Art Worker of RF, artist – A. Ignatieva, Honoured Art Worker of RF). The Vologda puppeteers represented their native town properly and got acquainted with creative works of Russian and foreign colleagues

        On May 3 there was the traditional Sweet tooth’s Party devoted to the end of the 71st theatrical season. The performance “Mishuk” was shown for our little spectators who also got sweets and cakes. There was a rewarding ceremony of the winners “My Favorite “Teremok” – a competition of children drawings and creative works.

        On April 28-30 the 2nd festival of children amateur puppet theatres “The Puppet Country” took place in “Teremok”. Various talented troupes from Vologda, the Vologda region and from other regions participated in the festival. The organizers wanted to make it bright and unforgettable for children. Little actors had an opportunity to play on the professional stage of the Puppet Theatre “Teremok”, made friends with each other.

     The new prize “A Working Horse” has been established in “Teremok” this year. This prize is given to an actor who has played the biggest quantity of parts during the year. In 2007 the possessor of the prize “A Working Horse” became Natalia Savenkova who played in more than 200 performances.

   The winner of the competition “The Children’s Favorite Actor” became Elena Tadlova, the Honoured Artist of Russia, for the part of Nafa in the performance “Three Piglets Twenty Years Later” (S. Makeev, producer – Y. Mer, artist – O. Sidorenko). We are very grateful to everyone who has taken part in voting.  

  The actor Anton Diev who plays Gvidon in the performance “The Fairytale about Tsar Saltan” by A. S. Pushkin became the laureate of the prize “The Diamond Hand” for the best part of 2007.

  The laureate of the theatrical Reward named after A. V. Badaev became the actor Valentin Ovsyannikov for the part of Mikitch in “Hanuma” (Tsagareli,producer – Y. Mer, artist – Z. Davydov).

     The laureate of the theatrical Reward named after K. P. Osipova became the Honoured Artist of Russia Vladimir Datsenko “For long, bright and uncompromised serving to the young spectator”.

    Wonderful news for adult amateurs of the Puppet Theatre! The new performance “ÊONCHERTO GROSSO” is being prepared nowadays. Its producer A. Borok is well-known for spectators by the remarkable performance “Several Days from Fen’ka’s Life”. The work is not small and easy: it’s necessary to make 60 puppets for the performance including trick puppets.

     On March 14-20 our theatre participated in the International Festival of Puppet Theatres “Muraveynik” in Ivanovo. The Vologda Puppet Theatre “Teremok” showed the performance “Several Days from Fen’ka’s Life” (producer – A. Borok, artist – A. Kardash). The spectators gave us a warm welcome and were glad to get acquainted with Fen’ka and her friends.

    In December Vologda celebrates the 70th anniversary of the Puppet Theatre “Teremok”. Our theatre prepared for the celebration for long. A very interesting program of this festive occasion includes showing of our premieres: “Hanuma”, “The Teremok”, “The Fairytale about Tsar Saltan”, a party and meeting with critics, excursions to the Vologda museums, and a fascinating fire show. 

    Theatrical workers from Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Yaroslavl, Ivanovo, Ryazan, Murmansk, Pertozavodsk were invited to the party. The holiday became a meeting of friends, where congratulations and jokes could be heard.
